OUR WORK
Sentinel is an outbreak early warning framework focused on detecting viral threats in real-time and preparing the global community to stop diseases before they spread by partnering with local leaders in the communities we work with. To achieve this, Sentinel follows a three-pronged strategy, and a hub and spoke model for implementation: to DETECT circulating pathogens, CONNECT data and information systems, and EMPOWER scientists and public health officials in Africa to respond to and prevent pandemics.

Leveraging genomics-based surveillance tools to rapidly identify high-priority pathogens with:

CRISPR Based detection tools to quickly and accurately identify circulating pathogens, including viral, bacterial, and parasitic targets

Viral sequencing enabling a greater understanding of circulating pathogens and the opportunity to identify unknown and novel pathogens
