Sentinel’s technologies are designed to plug into existing data streams, incorporating genomic data with existing public health data to inform more detailed, user-friendly analytics and visualizations about disease trends. This allows public health officials to overcome challenges, leapfrog current disease surveillance activities, and quickly interpret their own data.

 

To maximize the impact of the data that is collected and ensure the information is actionable, Sentinel provides real-time surveillance data in an actionable form, preparing West African public health officials, institutions, and practitioners with the tools needed to intervene quickly and precisely to avert potential disease outbreaks in an easy-to-use mobile format.

To achieve this goal, data from multiple sources need to be integrated, analyzed, and communicated. Lookout, designed and supported by Fathom Information Design, integrates epidemiological, patient, public health, and genomic data into an analytical platform, connecting frontline responders and public health officials with needed pathogen surveillance data. Lookout provides real-time surveillance data in easily digestible visualizations and key analytics for public health officers to take immediate.

Delphy

Delphy

A computational tool for outbreak reconstruction

Delphy is a novel tool for phylogenetic analysis that is user-friendly and runs 1,000x faster than current methods. This anlysis help us understand how a pathogen is changing and evolving. The objective of Delphy is to easily run complicated sequencing data and quickly understand key genomic variables of the samples, including diversity, variants, and genomic evolution. Delphy is an order of magnitude faster than the current gold standard for such analyses and is currently available for research use.

Supporting pathogen genomics research and pathogen surveillance

The Terra Data Platform enables collaborative genome science through a federated platform that connects users to each other and to the datasets and analysis tools they need. Its is an open, cloud-based platform funded by  DSI-Africa that supports genomic sequencing data analysis and allows for the creation of flexible data tables and the ability to easily combine metadata and genomic data files, providing intuitive functionality enabling users to manage and analyze genomic data.
